Hollywood Celebrities in the ’90s: Wild Past of Keanu Reeves, Johnny Depp, and Other Stars

These days, people are used to seeing photos from Hollywood parties. The ubiquitous smartphone cameras capture every awkward movement of the most popular stars.

However, it has not always been like that. There were times when famous actors could have some fun without being afraid of cameras. Additionally, they used to had their special hot spots. For example, the California club “Viper Room“.

It belonged to Johnny Depp. Originally, it was a strip bar. The most successful criminals of the United States used to hang out here. Later, this place became a creative center and a recreation area for the biggest people from the Hollywood world.

According to Zoomboola, Johnny Depp and his friend Sal Jenco bought this place in 1993. According to celebrity friends, they have been dreaming about owning a club like that for a long time. They wanted to have parties in a nice place with good music.

Many Hollywood celebrities visited the Viper Room on a regular basis. Some of them not only had fun and listened to music but also played on stage themselves. A wide variety of famous people performed in the Viper Room, starting from the rhythmic pop-band Pussycat Dolls to the dark and gloomy Johnny Cash.

As you might have guessed, there is plenty of sad stories associated with the club. For instance, the death of River Phoenix, the older brother of Joaquin Phoenix. He died of overdose near the Viper Room in 1993.

Many bad rumors about the club were floating around. Nevertheless, the Viper Room was kind of a celebrity outlet. Adam Duritz of Counting Crows believes this club was one of the reasons why he decided to become a musician.

At the end of the 20th century, the Viper Room was passed to another owner with a huge scandal.

It all started with the fact that Anthony Fox, who was Johnny Depp’s business partner at that time, was sued by the latter. Fox accused Depp of a fraudulent conspiracy against him. In 2001, Fox just suddenly disappeared. In 2004, three years later, Depp gave up his stake in the business.
